The Initiative’s long-term monitoring plan calls for fish surveys to be conducted every 3 years at 3 separate locations on the Conewago Creek. This monitoring helps the Initiative and its partners to understand what effect restoration efforts are having on the fish population living in the Conewago Creek and to determine how much work is still left to be done.
Final Report
In June of 2021, three locations were sampled. One is located near the mouth where Covered Bridge Rd crosses the Conewago Creek, and the second is located in State Game Lands 145 near the town of Colebrook. The third site, Hershey Meadows, is located on the Conewago Creek between Routes 283 and 743. These results can be compared to surveys completed in 1972, 1973, 2007, 2012, 2015, and 2018 to paint a picture of how fish populations have changed over time.
